Ocean City's Annual Mile Long Spring Block Party is set for Sat., May 14 from

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from 5th to 14th Streets on Asbury Ave. The event will feature over 400 crafters and food vendors. There will be live entertainment from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and free pony rides for children at the Tabernacle grounds off 6th and Asbury Ave., during those same hours. There will be free parking at the Transportation Center, 10th and Haven Ave., in back of McDonalds and at Municipal Parking Lots. Municipal Lots are located at 5th and Asbury Ave. and Central Ave. between 7th and 9th Sts. Merchants' sidewalk sales will be held Sun., May 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Block Party is sponsored by the Ocean City Retail Merchants Assn.

Manasquan tree lighting and candy cane hunt tomorrow

Manasquan's 19th annual tree lighting ceremony is happening tomorrow night, Friday, Dec. 4, at 6:30 p.m so bring your kids and have a festive time! The ceremony
will take place in Squan Plaza, on Abe Voorhees Drive. Santa Claus will even be in attendance, and you can get free hot chocolate on Main Street. Following the tree lighting, the 19th annual candy cane hunt for children ages 10 and younger will get under way. Children are asked to line up after the tree ceremony, and will receive a candy cane from a chamber volunteer. Each candy cane is numbered, and the children must search the Main Street business district to find the store that has a matching candy cane number displayed in its window. Once they have found their matching stores, children may visit the stores, where they will receive a wrapped prize. Also, there will be caroling and live music throughout the evening, so don't miss out on this wonderful Holiday event.

Great place with delicious. fresh food in Point Pleasant. We went there for breakfast and it was wonderful, and very family-friendly. My daughter had scrambled eggs and a pancake, which she loved. The rest of us all tried the exact same dish, as it sounded delicious and did not disappoint. It was a spicy chicken, chorizo and avocado omelette burrito, grilled to perfection with the most amazing salsa - it was all obviously fresh, and the salsa had a unique twist of capers and olives mixed in. I have taken my daughter to many different locations both locally and around the country visiting friends and family, and something to keep in mind when staying at an unfamiliar location with your baby is to please take a moment when you arrive and check for untacked rugs, unlocked cabinets, long window blind cords and loose power cords - these are some of the not-so-obvious hazards that could be overlooked during your stay.
